A couple of weeks ago my sister and I and our kids went to Spanish Banks beach, which is 20 minutes drive from our house. We were fortunate to make it there at low tide. The beach stretched our for ever and ever. The boys had a great time and collected a whole bunch of shells to bring home.

When we got home, I set some of the shells out and did some ‘ blind contour’ drawings of them.

Then later I copied the one I liked the most onto watercolor paper with pencil and then pigma pen over top and then applied the watercolor paint. It was a really fun and simple exercise.
