Here is a picture tutorial for some fun avocado felt sushi.
What you will need:
-paper
-scissors
-needle
-felt material (green, black and white)
-thread (green, black and white)
-stuffing (wool, cotton balls or anything you got, etc.)
1. Cut out the paper shapes. Rice 3in by 3in. Seaweed 3.3/4in by 1.1/4in.
Avocado 1. 1/2in by 1.1/2in. All sizes are approximate.
2. Pin to the felt and cut out felt pieces.
3. Can cut out as many as you want, just make sure you have 2 avocado shapes, one rice and one seaweed for each piece of sushi.
4. Put the ends of the rice square together and sew a line.
5. You don’t have to flip it inside out, but make sure the line you just sewed is in the middle.
6. Now stick one end into the other.
7. Sew it closed.
8. Should look like this.
9. Now sew up the sides of the avocado cross so you have a little box.
10. The box.
11. Pop the box into the rice cylinder.
12. Sew them together.
13. Now take whatever kind of stuffing you have (here I used cotton balls) and stuff it up including the second avocado box!
14. Now sew the second avocado box in place.
15. Place the seaweed piece and sew it on.
16. Sew the other side on as well.
17. Stitch along the circular edge part and repeat on the bottom edge as well.
18. Repeat and enjoy!
It is nice to see that Erika and you have started your arts university. This is not a joke. In time it will expand as long as you are not held captive by professors and buildings.
This is a great tutorial! It makes me want kimbap… Have you submitted it to Whip-up or posted it on Craftster?
Thanks for your comment on my blog ~ I love comments and it’s always great to get in touch with someone who’s living the home life :). I loved your cleaning mantra. Must try it.

This looks amazing!!! I think it would be a good thing to use with a small child to practice picking up sushi with chopsticks.
This is awesome! Thanks so much for posting this! I’m absolutely awful at sewing or crafting unless I have step-by-step instructions and I really wanted to make some play sushi for my nieces and nephews for Christmas next year.
Hi, My name is Tracy and I own a business called Flutterby Doll Creations. You can find my business @flutterbydollcreations.wordpress.com or on Facebook. I have made some of your sushi for my kids for their cubby house and they have proven VERY popular!!!! My friends are wanting me to market them. I was writing to you to ask permission to use your pattern (and change the middle of some for different fillings), to sell on my business page?? I was wanting to ask permission, not just do it without asking.
Secondly, thought you might like to know that your sushi pattern was recently used as the major part of my brother’s proposal to this girlfriend. They love sushi, and my brother got me to make a felt one for him. We slit the top of the avocado square for him to place the ring into. He presented it to her on a sushi platter on the beach, with Will you marry me?? written in the sand. So Sweet :)) let me know, thanks..
Hi Tracy, I am really sorry for not answering you earlier. At this time the pattern is just for people to use for fun and not for selling. Thanks, Juliet
This blog is amazing. I was pulled in by the Montessori chair, I wanted a European really bad to use with my little boy and I am glad there is someone that came up with an alternative that is just as useful. Thanks for your ideas. Will definitely try the felt food in my classroom. Thanks.
Glad you found it useful! Happy crafting!
Thanks for this fantastic tutorial! I’d love for you to link this (and any other felt projects you’d like to share) up at my Felt Food Roundup on OneCreativeMommy.com. I hope to see you there!
I ponder the reasons why you named this particular posting, âfelt sushi tutorial « hoogli artâ.
