Handsewing for my soul.

Yesterday, shane took olee to science world after his nap time and so I had alittle time and energy to indulge in some sewing. It was so amazingly satisfying and felt like I was feeding a thirst that burned to be quenched. When was the last time I felt that? I was thinking back and realized it had been 6 whole months since I had sewn anything!!! 6 months! Where did that time go? Well, the first 3 were spent on the couch nursing my nausea and exhaustion from the 1st trimester, and the last 3 were spent preparing for, going on and recovering from our big trips to Isreal and Saskatchewan. With a very limited supply of energy going into creating a new baby within me and taking care of my 2.5 year old, the energy left for sewing and creating was hardly there. So all that said, I was very thankful for the time and energy I had yesterday to be creative and throughly enjoyed it.

I also remembered how much I love to hand sew. Last week I made a new curtain for “Our room” aka mine and shane’s room that we just aquired a few weeks ago (as it was our office until then) and now will relish the peaceful uninterupted sleep for 3 more months until it becomes “the baby and my room” as shane will probably end up sleeping in the living room again! Anyhow…

I decided to applique a felt animal onto the curtain as I had done previously with olee’s curtain and finally after much thought chose the kitten. I love cats and even more kittens and so thought it was befitting for my room/sewing room/baby’s room. It respresents playfulness, joyfulness and an inner tranquility that I need so much in my life right now.

hey, nice work! Cherish this time huh? So special as you dont realize the vibe going around as you all await the new baby, and also try to snatch every bit of time to yourself that you can! I am definately doing the same thing!

Congratulations on expecting your second baby Juliet!!!
I, too, am finding my way towards sewing lately. I like your little squishy ball. You could even make one with a bell inside it.
