Today a did a big splurge. I went and bought a big bag of real sheeps wool batting to stuff my creations with. I opened the bag and with one feel of how soft and one sniff of how sheepy it is, it sent me spinning off to a land far away that is filled with barns, animals, hay, grass and all things hoogli, natural and wonderful. Now I know how purist waldorfians feel about using only ‘natural’ materials to sew and craft with. Ahh, the synthetics have their places too, but quality, quality, quality, I love quality. This is making me reflect on how much quality I need (and love to have) in my life, in my relationships, in my artwork and in my parenting. To go for quality instead of the cheap quickfix. I guess quality necessitates slowing down, going deeper, patience and lots of commitment.
I re-stuffed this pincusion with real wool and it turned out much better. The tutorial I got from here.
Man, your photos are absolutely amazing. I can’t believe you’re doing them with just the regular camera that you have. I really want to make a pincusion like that too.
