Prayer in a purple cabbage

Yesterday I was making a big salad for our family and chopped open a purple cabbage. A woman, firmly grounded, standing in prayer, holding three little kids, jumped out at me. I think it is like one of those ink blots where everyone sees something different. But I see a shiva woman, who has arms to hold the universe, who has a strong trunk for support and an ever moving growing field of energy around her, nourishing her and holding her. It is beautiful.

Fantabulous colors on the cabbage! Amazing photo of something so simple!

The way you described this reminds me of how you described being a mother (from Mothering magazine). The mother earth who is firmly rooted and long arms to nourish and embrace. I can’t remember what else, but it sort of reminded me of this. Beautiful photo again.

Gorgeous. That is interesting what you saw, I just see a natural piece of abstract art, you know, the kind that would take us hours to create, but that God makes millions of every day automatically without effort.
It sure seems like you guys have a busy yet simple life, I can’t imagine what that’s like, I guess I’ll learn one day once children force us to adopt that lifestyle…

It is a fantastic lifestyle change from the busy student/working life that only takes about a year to get use to 🙂 I love it now. but it definately took some time to adjust.
